The SAFEGUARD 6" Emergency Pressure Bandage (also known as an Israeli bandage) is a 15 x 18cm trauma dressing built for rapid haemorrhage control. It combines a sterile non-adherent pad, pressure applicator, and secondary dressing in a single unit, so you can stop bleeding faster with fewer items in your kit.

What a pressure bandage is used for: controlling moderate to severe external bleeding from trauma, including traffic accidents, workplace injuries, gunshot and knife wounds. The integral pressure bar applies direct, sustained pressure to the wound site, which is the first-line method for managing significant haemorrhage.

Key features

  • Integral pressure applicator delivers immediate direct pressure to the wound
  • Sterile non-adherent pad reduces pain and prevents wound re-opening on removal
  • Built-in closure bar secures the bandage with no pins, clips, tape or velcro
  • Designed for one-handed self-application under stress
  • Acts as primary trauma bandage and secondary dressing in one

Who it suits

  • Military, police, SWAT, fire and EMS first responders
  • Workplace and remote-site first aid kits
  • Vehicle, marine and adventure trauma kits
  • Clinical and pre-hospital settings requiring rapid bleeding control

Benefits

  • Rapid bleeding control helps stabilise patients before definitive care
  • Consolidates multiple items into one unit, reducing kit weight and training overhead
  • Combat-proven design used as a standard issue dressing by major military organisations worldwide

Where to apply: directly over the wound, with the pad covering the bleeding site and the pressure bar positioned over the pad before wrapping. A pressure dressing should remain in place until the patient reaches definitive medical care; do not remove to check the wound, as this can disrupt clot formation.
