QuikClot Combat Gauze LE, Kaolin Haemostatic Dressing

QuikClot Combat Gauze LE is a sterile, soft white 3 in. x 4 yds. Z-folded, nonwoven haemostatic gauze impregnated with kaolin, an inorganic mineral that activates Factor XII and accelerates the body's natural clotting response. Packed directly into a wound, it forms a robust clot to control severe bleeding until medical support arrives.

What is combat gauze used for? It is used for the temporary control of life-threatening traumatic bleeding where a tourniquet cannot be applied, and as part of tourniquet conversion in tactical and pre-hospital care.

How is it different from regular gauze? Standard gauze absorbs blood but does not actively promote clotting. Combat Gauze LE uses kaolin to trigger the clotting cascade, while still being packed using the same technique as plain gauze.
