Is compressed gauze the same as packing gauze?
Yes. Compressed gauze is a long strip of absorbent gauze vacuum sealed into a compact pack, designed to be used for packing wounds. The TraumaFix product is folded in a Z pattern so you can pull length out of the pack in a controlled way as you pack the wound.
When to use compressed gauze
Use compressed packing gauze for moderate to severe wounds with heavy bleeding, particularly where a tourniquet cannot be applied, such as junctional bleeds at the groin, axilla, or neck. Pack firmly into the wound cavity, then apply direct pressure and a pressure bandage over the top.
Why TraumaFix
The Z-fold format gives you precise placement and rapid access under stress. It is used by paramedics, tactical responders, and combat first aid providers across Australia.
